Flying The LONG WAY to Catalina Island...
Let's fly almost an hour over the water to Catalina Island (the airport in the sky), in my 65hp 1946 Aeronca Chief! Because of my need to avoid the class Bravo airspace around LAX, I'm going to fly to KAVX, from Oxnard (KOXR), which means I'll approach the island from the northwest, a much longer route over the water than what a modern airplane would take. We even get to check out the ham radio repeater on the island and the legendary Wrigley Douglas DC3! Into cars, airplanes, and Ham radio? Subscribe, thumbs up, and share!
