Waste Crisis in Kumasi: Loaded Tricycles Abandoned on Major Streets
Kumasi is facing a growing sanitation crisis as several tricycles loaded with waste have been left unattended on major streets within the metropolis and parts of the Ashanti Region for days. The situation has been linked to frequent breakdowns of machines at the Oti Landfill Site, which has significantly affected operations at the waste management facility. With the landfill unable to process the volume of waste being transported, tricycle operators are unable to offload, leaving vehicles stranded at various intersections and streets. Residents and businesses say the situation poses serious environmental and public health risks. Speaking to Citi News, resident Kojo Bonsu said the issue is affecting business activities and creating health hazards, urging authorities to urgently intervene and restore proper waste management operations.
