How to Replace Toyota Prius Combination Meter (Fix: wont turn off; wont turn on; wont go in gear)
This is a fast-paced tutorial for replacing the combination meter (sometimes referred to as speedometer, or dash display) on a 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 Toyota Pruis (second generation) This procedure requires removing the multi-function meter (sometimes referred to as touch screen or infotainment). So this video would be helpful to someone needing to replace the multifunction meter. A malfunctioning combination meter can cause a number of strange symptoms. On some cars the vehicle will not start (power on, turn on, drive), and on some cars they will not shut off. I've even seen examples where the vehicle will run and drive but the speedometer will remain powered off or black. A combination meter fault will usually be accompanied by a B1271 fault code (DTC) This can be a costly service at the dealership due to the labor involved in disassembling the dash. Here is a link to the remanufactured combination meter I installed in this video: https://amzn.to/2ChNCF8 I always perform repairs according the factory service manual.
