The rounder uses a series of rollers to gently shape the dough, ensuring that each bun is uniform in shape and size. These pieces are then sent along the conveyor to the next machine. After the dough has been rounded, it is sent along the conveyor to the intermediate proofer, which allows the dough to rise. This is an important step in the process as it allows the dough to develop its characteristic texture and flavor.
