Marching out to the strains of Prussia's Glory (March) 🦅🇩🇪 The honor guard at the lieutenant promotion ceremony at Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg. Prussia's Glory was composed in 1871 after the victory of Prussia and its allies over France in the Franco-Prussian War, which led to the founding of the German Empire. The march premiered in Frankfurt (Oder) for the victory parade of the returning troops. Because Piefke only had it performed on special occasions afterward, the march remained largely unknown to the general public for a long time. It was first published in 1898. The Hanover Army Band is performing under the direction of Lieutenant Colonel Martin Wehn. The honor guard is provided by soldiers of the university. The promotion ceremony on the sports field of the Bundeswehr University in Hamburg – the largest military ceremony held annually in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
