Building the classic 203' Athos

The giant schooner Athos, with an overall length of 203 feet and a length over deck of 184 feet, was launched in 2010 at Holland Jachtbouw to considerable acclaim. The design was subject to tank tests with various keels and rudders on a 1:10 scale - an actual 19-foot model was used - as well as extensive wind tunnel tests. Thanks to these preparations, Athos has a graceful aero and hydrodynamic shape, with a deep-V hull, shallow draught keel and integrated centreboard configuration.
