Mita Huq rose to prominence in the 90’s, with her first album ‘Amar Mon Mane Na’. Her mellifluous voice and excellent enunciation won the hearts of listeners worldwide. In an illustrious career spanning five decades Huq lent her voice to over 200 albums. She received the Ekushey Padak in 2020 for her contribution to music. Born in 1962, Mita Huq received training from maestros such as the Late Waheedul Haque, Sanjida Khatun and Ustad Mohammad Hossain Khan. She had been a regular performer in Bangladesh TV and Betar since 1977. Mita Huq was the Founder Director and Teacher of the music training and performance troupe Shurotirtha and was the Head of the Department of Rabindra Sangeet at Chhayanaut in Dhaka. She was also the former General Secretary and incumbent Vice-President of the Rabindra Sangeet Sammilan Parishad. Mita Huq passed away on Sunday 11 April 2021, at the age of 59. She leaves behind a rich legacy and will be greatly remembered by thousands of music-lovers. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🔹Track List 🔹 1. Rabindranath's niece, Sarala Devi was one of his close followers. Presenting quite a few of his songs in public for the first time, harmonizing his songs, preparing notations goes to her credit. She used to collect local musical tunes whenever she had gone anywhere and Rabindranath used to compose new songs applying those tunes. In her book Jiboner Jharapaata she writes - ... I had come up with a unique bouquet of music when I had been to Mysore. There seemed no respite till I could unload my basket under Rabi-mama's feet. He would gleefully pick up one at a time and own them with his own set of lyrics. 'Chirobondhu chironirbhar ...' ... is a song the tune of which I had come up with. 5. I remember a few incidents. Sometimes I would select the songs, sometimes it was Gurudev. This time he had selected the song 'Aamar mon maane na ...' and started giving the lesson. Earlier I had learnt the tune from Din-da and I could find some minor differences. Without indicating at the differences between the two I just said that I had learnt it earlier from Din-da. He was furious, bursting out at me he said The lamb is mine, I know it better where to slice it from. Follow only the tune that I give you and not any other. I was amazed to find that his tune was the identical with the notation that was previously made. 8.
