Hello Family and welcome back to OUR WILD OHIO! and this is; The Ultimate Morel Mushroom Hunting Guide PART 1 I can't lie, spring is my most favorite time of year! Birds chirping, spring flowers beginning to pop up and morels, oh thank God for morels season! The purpose for creating the Ultimate Morel Mushroom Hunting Guide was to give anyone interested in foraging morel mushrooms a general overall working knowledge from start to finish, so if you watch this whole series from start to finish, I am confident with persistence you will find many morel mushrooms! In the simplest terms, True Morals are not an individual species. Instead morals represent a genus of mushrooms, known as marchella, the so-called type species, meaning the 1 species that serves as a reference for the entire genus is known as mortella esculenta. Also known as the common moral, all of these species do share some general characteristics, though. Even though they can come in a variety of different sizes, different colors and different shapes. And when you look at a morale, you'll see that it's not your typical cap and stem mushroom. They have no gills. They have no pores. Instead, they have a unique sponge shape or what Michael files, like to call a pitted cap, which is the Spore, bearing structure. Another unique feature of the morel is the so-called Hollow stem. If you cut a morel in half, you'll see that the edges of the cap meet perfectly with the edge of the stem resulting in a continuous Hollow. Core inside of the mushroom, most Mushroom Hunters can easily identify. By morale before we even bending down to pick it up but for newcomers cutting the mushroom in half does serve as a helpful identification feature. Another obvious question that many people want to know is where do they grow? But asking the question, where do morel's grow is kind of like asking the question, where does a sport? All over the place. And there are so many different species. It's hard to pin down exactly where they will be found in general. Though they often grow in relation to hardwood, trees near Riverbank, Is when they grow, if you're looking for morels at the wrong time of year, Species that happen to grow in their area.
