Ymir Gold Rush - Mining Gold In One Of North America's Roughest Mining Towns

Ymir was a very rough town back in the gold rush days. Gold was discovered in the river and surrounding creeks, which started a hard rock gold rush in the mountains. It became a hub for miners going up wildhorse, oscar, and porcupine creeks. The gold near Ymir is very rich, and there are mines all over the mountains side. In town, the original Ymir hotel is still standing. It is a reminder of what life was like in the old days. Today, Ymir is a sleepy town of about 200 people.
