Rayford Steele (Nicolas Cage) is an airline pilot dealing with a strained marriage who chooses to fly a flight to London on his birthday to escape his religious wife, Irene. His college-aged daughter, Chloe, visits home to surprise him but instead debates her mother’s doomsday beliefs.  Mid-flight over the Atlantic, the Rapture occurs. Dozens of passengers on Rayford’s plane vanish instantly. Panic breaks out on board, compounded by a collision with another pilotless aircraft that damages their plane's fuel line. On the ground, Chloe witnesses the immediate, violent aftermath of a driverless world in ruins.  The movie focuses entirely on survival and reconciliation. With the airport runways on fire and navigation systems down, Chloe must find a way to help her father land the crippled plane on an unfinished highway stretch in a ruined, burning city. (Note: Unlike the other films, this version ends right after the plane lands and does not introduce the Antichrist character).
