Paying Off a Witness

The plaintiff says he was working for the defendant, a general contractor, when she slipped on the job and broke her leg. He claims the defendant asked him to testify on her behalf and promised to pay him $1,000 if she won her lawsuit. He says she later received a $45,000 judgment but has not paid him, so he is suing. The defendant says she asked the plaintiff to explain what happened to her attorney but denies ever promising him any money.
