The Māori are the indigenous people of Aotearoa, or what is now New Zealand. Famous for their haka, poi, and facial tattoos, they are descendants of the Polynesians, the greatest travelers the world has ever known. They hunted giant megabirds, terrorized European settlers, and built a rich culture despite being isolated from the rest of the world.
