At this point in the adventure, a long day of travel awaits us, 415 kilometers down the coast to Villa San Giovanni. From there, we cross into Messina, Sicily. Just mentioning Sicily fills me with excitement, surely because of the magic and legends we've heard throughout its history, from the Greeks to the Romans, and of course, the legend surrounding Corleone—a fascinating story of a boy who fled Italy for America and rose to power, becoming one of the most important figures in Mafia lore. The landscapes are spectacular once again.
