In a radio interview, designer Roberto Piazza expressed his discontent with several celebrities who, according to him, criticize the Argentine national team by mixing politics and sports. Piazza stated that "there are many celebrities and many people who are throwing mud at the national team" and specifically targeted Julia Mengolini, Diego Brancatelli, and Flor de la V. Regarding Mengolini, Piazza was blunt: "She's despicable. She has no capacity whatsoever to have an opinion on anything because she's shady, she's sinister." He also recounted clashes with Brancatelli on social media and insisted that both represent a critical minority compared to the majority support for Messi and the national team. For his part, Brancatelli responded by calling Piazza "an orangutan" and suggested that his comments had discriminatory undertones. The discussion broadened when Flor de la V was mentioned, who had highlighted the social value of football during difficult times for the country. Piazza dismissed her on-air emotion as "such a staged performance" and made ironic comments about her media career. When asked if his criticisms were misogynistic or transphobic, he categorically denied any animosity toward women or trans people: "I have nothing against women... I respect intelligent women."
