What is Asalha Puja Day? Buddhism For Kids

Buddhism began with a man named Siddhartha Gautama about 2500 years ago. Gautama sat under a Bodhi tree for 49 days contemplating life and the truth behind life’s challenging questions. After this long time, he achieved enlightenment, meaning that he became knowledgeable of the truth. For Buddhists, Dharma Day is an opportunity to express gratitude to the Buddha for his teachings and his willingness to share his knowledge with others. Dharma Day is a day to reflect on Buddhist scripture and consider what can be learned and put into practice. This RE video for kids explains in a child-friendly and engaging way, how Buddhists around the world celebrate this beloved day.
