2026 Yamaha R7 | R1 Electronics on a £10k Bike | Adam Child

The 2026 Yamaha R7 has had a serious overhaul, new ride-by-wire fuelling, revised chassis with more rigidity, softer fork internals, a reworked rear linkage, lighter wheels, and R1-derived electronics including a six-axis IMU, slide control, cornering ABS, and wheelie control. All for under £10,000. Chad takes the new R7 out in southern Spain and over the border into Portugal, half a day on the road on standard Bridgestones, then an afternoon on track on the RS12s, to find out whether Yamaha have got the balance right between entry-level accessibility and genuine track capability. Is it the best mid-range sports bike you can buy right now? Or is the Aprilia RS 660 still king of the class?
