Role models in rural areas often reflect lingering sexist attitudes rooted in the home, leading many women to rebel through education. Saavedra Ordoñez is a young activist promoting leadership among women in her community in the municipality of San Pedro de Buena Vista, in the province of Charcas, Potosí. She has been elected as a councilwoman and previously managed the municipal radio station. In the field of education, she distinguished herself as head of the "Corazón de María La Providencia" Rural Boarding School and as a youth representative for the Unified Federation of Indigenous Workers of the Ayllus of Northern Potosí.
