It causes a lovely, relaxing feeling to the people who experience it, as well as sometimes pleasant 'shivers', and can help with things like insomnia or trouble sleeping. It can occur in situations like hearing a particular sound or 'trigger', and many people experience varying degrees of the phenomenon. Not everyone who listens or watches ASMR videos experiences the sensation however! Some people utilize the sounds of a soothing voice or certain trigger(s) to help fall asleep or relax, without feeling the 'tingles'.
