This was the second screen adaptation of the famous novel by Jules Verne "Children of Captain Grant" (the first was released in 1936). The multi-part adventure feature film was directed by Stanislav Govorukhin. The film was shot at the Odesa Film Studio and the Boyana Studio (Bulgaria). The film was produced in 1985, and was released in 1986. After its release, the film gained great popularity, thanks to the wonderful cast, impressive music by Dunaevsky (by the way, "migrated" to the new film adaptation from the old one), spectacular scenery, stunningly beautiful landscape shots - the film was a success in many ways. The film consists of two storylines. The first tells about the life of the writer Jules Verne and the history of the creation and publication of the novel "Children of Captain Grant". The second actually reveals the plot of the novel, as it was gradually born in the imagination of the writer. Lord Glenarvan and his wife Helen are on their honeymoon in Scottish waters on the yacht Duncan. The ship's crew catches a shark, in whose entrails they find a champagne bottle. In the middle of it lie papers in three languages, corroded by water, asking for help: the British ship sank, two sailors and Captain Grant managed to escape. Upon hearing of the find, the captain's children come to the lord. After the English government refuses to conduct a search, Lord Glenarvan himself decides to go to help the hero of Scotland. They know for sure that the ship sank at the 37th parallel, but the longitude is unknown. In search of the captain, the brave Scots make a round-the-world trip along the 37th parallel.
