It may seem simple, but these three pieces of advice have the power to accelerate or destroy your professional development. Many long-time employees carry accumulated frustrations from years past. Some have given up on growing, given up on selling, given up on learning, and end up passing this mindset on to those who are starting out. If you're not careful, you may adopt limiting beliefs that will hinder your growth. Another big mistake is wasting time in gossip circles during work hours. While some professionals are focused on serving customers, selling products, and generating results, others are complaining about the company, the manager, the goals, or life. Over time, this difference in behavior generates completely different results. Furthermore, one of the biggest secrets of high-performing gas station attendants is understanding that they are not just fuel dispensers. They are salespeople. Every customer who stops at the pump is an opportunity to offer premium fuel, lubricant, an oil change, an automotive service, or simply to provide such a good experience that the customer will return.
