Omicidio Yara Gambirasio: il DNA incastra Bossetti. La ricostruzione del caso che sconvolse l'Italia
Friday, November 26, 2010. In Brembate di Sopra, a small town of about 8,000 inhabitants in the province of Bergamo, Yara Gambirasio left her home to go to her local sports center and then vanished. The body of the missing thirteen-year-old was found three months later, on February 26, 2011, lifeless in a field in Chignolo d'Isola. It would take another four years to identify the perpetrator: Massimo Giuseppe Bossetti, a 43-year-old bricklayer sentenced to life in prison at the time. The Gambirasio case is a crime story without precedent in Italian and European history. To solve it, the following were required: 4,300 witnesses were interviewed 21,770 genetic profiles were examined 120,000 telephone numbers were analyzed A colossal investigative and judicial apparatus, which led to the life sentence of a single person: Bossetti, framed by the irrefutable evidence of the DNA found on the girl's body. Even today, Bossetti maintains his innocence, maintaining that the DNA was not his, despite having been sentenced to life in prison at all three levels of trial.
