Celebrating the life of JERUSHA KINANU ITHAI (KUUKU) 1925 -2024

Eulogy BIRTH The late Jerusha kinanu was born in 1925 in Ngathine Village,Kianjai Sub-Location, Kianjai Location in then Meru District. She was the third-born daughter of the late Mr. Ntoichaba M'laikuru and the late Mrs. Mukiria M'Mutugi. She was a sister to the Late M'Marambii, M'lchaba, the late Naomi Nchulubi, the late Johana M'Thirinja, Justus M'Naibocha, the late Kanyinyilu M'likigu, the late Norman Makimba, the late Rachael Kathuuri, Elizabeth Kamunwathi and the late Mercy Kalayu. MARRIAGE LIFE In 1950, Jerusha got married to the late Mr. Francis M'lthai in a traditional ceremony. They were blessed with children namely; Salome Mwonjaro, Col. Rtd Julius Kailemia Ithai, Susan Muthaura, Rebecca Kirimi, Andrew Karinguri, Elizabeth Ituuru, Simon Mung'athia, Steve Mwenda, David Kinyua and John Mutabari. She was a Stepmother to the late David Kirianki, the late Joshua Thuranira, Karei, Joel Kubai, the Late Margaret Mwamatu, Philip, Kaibung'a, Mwenda, Lucy and the late Mary. She was the Mother-in-law to Jerry Kayuyu, Mary Kathambi, and the late Douglas Muthaura, Eng. Pt Kirimi, Lucy Kananu, Job Ituuru, Nanis Nkatha, Nancy Gacheri, Margaret Kianira and Fridah Rima. She was the grandmother of Regina Kamathi, Joy Kanini, Nelly Karambu, the late Nicholas, Pamela Kathure, Tony Murithi, Judy Nkatha, Ezra Murithi, Lilian Karimi, Faith Mukami, Eric Muthomi, Emily Kawira, Alex Mwiti, Patrick Mwiti, Nancy Kanja, James Kimathi, Robin Mutwiri, Emily Kathambi, Kevin Gitonga, Sam Itoru, Reagan Ray Koome, Richard Munene, Robbin David, Ken Mutuma, Mike Mutwiri, Ian Gitonga, Brian Kirimi, Diana Gacheri, Ricky Mwenda, Kendi Tracy, Tony Munene and numerous great-grandchildren. OCCUPATION Jerusha was a farmer dedicated to providing for her family, neighbours and local community. She welcomed and lived with many children of her relatives that no one could differentiate them from her own. Her house hosted so many children that it looked like a school during meals and yet they were all fed. CHRISTIAN LIFE She was among the first people in her village to convert and embrace Christianity and worked very hard to encourage neighbours and friends on the benefits of following Christ and abandoning some traditional practices Jerusha was among the pioneer members of the Methodist Church Kianjai, who later transited to establish Kirukire Methodist Church in 1990's where she was an active member till her demise. She was known to be a tough disciplinarian and strongly believed in education. All children who lived with her had to attend school without fail and there was no discrimination. LAST DAYS Mum enjoyed excellent health throughout her life and never being admitted to a hospital. She also enjoyed her old age visiting her children and grandchildren in various parts of the country. During her last days, she was living with one of her daughters in Nanyuki still in great health at her age. In the late hours of the 26th of September 2024, she developed a sudden fever and fatigue. She was rushed to Nanyuki Cottage Hospital where she breathed her last the following day. Mum died at the blessed age of 99 years having seen grandchildren of all her children. Her journey on earth was finished. This is the route for all of us. May the Almighty God our Father through Christ Jesus be glorified forever. Amen.
