But that version is still far from the full theoretical structure. Only by looking at the complete argument can we understand what Marx was actually claiming. And after a century of failed experiments, revisions, and reinterpretations, we have to ask: Did Marxist theory fail? In what sense did it succeed? How many political systems in the world today are explicitly socialist or lean toward socialism?
