He was educated at Harvard. His publications are numerous and only a few are listed here and they include: The Central Philosophy of Tibet, published by Princeton University The Tibetan Book of the Dead published by Bantam Doubleday Dell Essential Tibetan Buddhism published by Castle Books The Treasury of Buddhist Sciences, published by the Columbia University Centre for Buddhist Studies. He is a co-founder of Tibet House in New York and received many international awards for his contributions to literature.
