AYONS LE COURAGE POLITIQUE DE PRÉSENTER DES EXCUSES: VITAL KAMERHE & À CYPRIEN WETCHI LC85: DIALOGUE

LET US HAVE THE POLITICAL COURAGE TO APOLOGIZE TO VITAL KAMERHE AND CYPRIEN WETCHI LC85 (LC 85 stands for: Congolese Leopoldist for the period 1884-1885.) This VIDEO-BOOK, produced entirely by the Friends of Wetchi LC 85, is a true visual story. For years, Cyprien Wetchi has been filming events to gather historical evidence, as Congolese people are often compared to doubting Thomas, who only believe what they see. The images presented in this report demonstrate that Vital Kamerhe had advocated, well before others, for holding an inclusive dialogue to find a lasting solution to the crisis in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. History will remember that as a result of this stance, he lost his position as President of the National Assembly. The moral of the story: when history ultimately vindicates a man, political courage dictates acknowledging this truth and offering an apology. This report calls upon political authorities to recognize this reality and apologize to Vital Kamerhe and Cyprien Wetchi, the Congolese supporter of Leopold II, for the period of 1884-1885.
