Evening Song from Satyagraha by Philip Glass (Act 3 Conclusion)
Evening Song from Philip Glass’ opera Satyagraha On the International Day of Non-Violence and Gandhi Jayanti (2nd October), I share with you an abridged version of the ‘Evening Song’ from American composer Philip Glass’ opera Satyagraha - a masterpiece inspired by the life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi. Sung in the ancient Vedic language of Sanskrit, with verses drawn from the Bhagavad Gita, this opera reflects Gandhi’s path of Satyagraha (truth-force), first shaped in South Africa and later guiding India’s fight for independence in 1947. Since then, Gandhi’s teachings of non-violence have inspired global leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suu Kyi, Aldous Huxley, and John Lennon - a legacy that continues today. • Voice: @ShanulSharma • Pianoforte: Raymond Lawrence • Composer: Philip Glass • Opera: Satyagraha (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satya...) • Filmed at: Horti Hall, Melbourne (with gratitude to @victorianoperapage) • Production: Jin Tommo - [email protected] | Audio/Video: Black Cat Designs • Website: shanul.com.au • Facebook: Shanul • Instagram: @shanul_opera
