Sailing a Borrowed Foiler on the Shipwreck Coast | Racing Abandoned!

I travel to Portland, Victoria, on the edge of the wild Southern Ocean for the Portland Yacht Club regatta — but there’s one problem… every one of my boats is out of action. So I do what any desperate sailor would do — I borrow a Skeeta foiling dinghy and take it straight to the infamous Shipwreck Coast for some seriously challenging foiling sailing. After picking up the demo boat from Skeeta Watersports (and getting a behind-the-scenes look at their factory, including the Nikki junior foiler and some incredible motorsport history), I make the long drive west to Portland. Day one: after assembling the unique pivoting foil system, selecting the 9.5 m rig, and getting familiar with the over-rotating mast, we head out into solid breeze and brutal Southern Ocean chop — and hang on. Day two? A building south-easterly and a truly horrible sea state. We battle around the course before racing is eventually abandoned… and it’s easy to see why they call this the Shipwreck Coast. #Foiling #DinghySailing #ShipwreckCoast #Skeeta #sailing 🤝 Supporters & Partners Special thanks to Skeeta Watersports https://skeetawatersports.com/skeeta/ Ronstan Deck Hardware https://www.ronstan.com/au/ Norfyx Technology Halyard Reels https://norfyxtechnology.com/products Damic Design Deckgrip https://www.damicdesign.com/deckgrip Thanks to everyone on Patreon — your support makes these adventures possible. 👉 Support the channel here:   / tomstuchberysailing
