Calorific Value Measurement of Solid Biofuels using Bomb Calorimetry
The purpose of this demonstration is to provide instructions for the determination of the gross calorific value of solid biofuels at constant volume and at the reference temperature 25 °C in a bomb calorimeter calibrated by combustion of certified benzoic acid. The gross calorific value at constant volume is the absolute value of the specific energy of combustion, in joules, for a unit mass of a solid biofuel burned in oxygen. This demonstration is in compliance with the European standard EN 14918. This demonstration was conducted by the Sustainable Energy Research Group staff at Frederick University, Cyprus. The production was filmed and edited by the Audio Visual Communication at Frederick Institute of Technology.
