When the strong yen and imported car boom of the late 1990s subsided, a new entrant entered the market from a neighboring country. Imported cars, in particular, place great importance on brand, and the mismatch with the market in a country currently experiencing a minivan boom was significant. Commercially, it's difficult to call it a success, and they withdrew after 10 years. Now, in the Reiwa era, they've launched a rematch, but at least in terms of styling, they surpass Japanese cars. Even if they manage to defend their domestic market share, they are undoubtedly a much stronger opponent than they were in the 2000s. Given that automobiles are a major export industry in Japan, shouldn't we be more concerned about this?
