Stuart Alliance Church Service - June 7, 2026 - "When The Holy Spirit Comes - A People Transformed"
When the Spirit Comes: Power, Proclamation, and a People Transformed – Part 2. Acts 2:37–41 -- "Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brethren, what shall we do?” Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, 'Be saved from this perverse generation!”' So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls." In Part 2 of this Pentecost message from Acts 2, we examine the powerful response to Peter’s Spirit-filled proclamation of the Gospel and witness the birth of the New Testament church. After hearing that Jesus Christ, the One they crucified, had risen and been exalted as Lord and Messiah, the people were “pierced to the heart” and cried out, “Brethren, what shall we do?” This moment reveals the convicting work of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. This message focuses on two final truths from Acts 2. First, The Heart Is Pierced and Called to Respond (Acts 2:37–40). Peter calls the people to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. The Gospel is not merely information to hear; it is truth that demands a response. Through repentance, forgiveness, and the gift of the Holy Spirit, God extends His grace even to those who once rejected Christ. Second, Lives Are Transformed and the Church Is Born (Acts 2:41). About three thousand people received the Word, were baptized, and publicly identified themselves with Jesus Christ. Pentecost became the beginning of the Spirit-empowered church; a redeemed people transformed by the Gospel and united in Christ. This sermon reminds us that the same Gospel still changes lives today. Jesus Christ continues to save sinners, transform hearts, and build His church through the power of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost was not merely the birth of an institution; it was the beginning of a worldwide mission centered on the risen Christ. The Spirit still calls people to repentance, empowers believers for witness, and transforms lives for the glory of God.
