Edayilakkad is a marshy island in Kasaragod district, Kerala, India.It is located in the Kavvayi Backwaters,at Arabian Sea arm.The island is 3-4 meters above sea level.Edayilakkad is known for biodiversity and local conservation.It is also a shelter for many monkeys,there are arround 40 monkeys living and an old lady (Manikkamma) living nearby feeds the monkeys regularly and now she is in bedrest due to age-related disease. Every year the very next day of thiruvonan(avittam) with the help of Navodaya library in edayilakkadu the locals and childrens prepare and serve food to the monkeys, and raises awareness among the tourists that they should 'feed the monkeys unsalted food' Edayilakkdu is situated 2.5 km away from trikkaripur town and railway station.
