This means they were grounded for a period of time, which varies according to the company's decision. But what happens to these aircraft that have been grounded for so long? Is it safe to fly them? For an aircraft to be grounded for so long, a preservation process is carried out, as outlined in the manufacturer's manual. This process ensures the integrity of the aircraft during its storage period, and the tasks that must be performed during this time depend on the duration. To return it to flight, the reverse process, de-preservation, is carried out. In this video, I show in practice how all this is done. The Aero, Behind Aviation channel aims to demystify the world of aviation in a light and relaxed way, to bring the public closer to this fascinating area.
