This week stretched me in all the best ways. I practiced my church solo, explored beautiful hiking trails with waterfalls and bridges, ventured into a cave, spent time with my sister, played Bunco, met a new friend, and even slipped on a pair of high heels for the first time in 20 years! But behind all of those fun moments was something I was wrestling with. Before meeting up with my new friend for our hike, I found myself asking a difficult question: Do I tell her about my limitations? As someone living with Stage 4 cancer, spinal tumors, chronic pain, and diabetes, there are days when I just want to feel normal and pretend everything is fine. I wasn’t sure whether to explain my situation or simply take a chance and hope for the best. In this vlog, I’m sharing what happened, why I decided to be honest, and how her response reminded me that vulnerability often opens the door to deeper connections. If you’ve ever worried about being a burden, felt different from everyone around you, or wondered whether to share your struggles with someone new, this video is for you.
