I previously uploaded this work on my main channel, "Abe Yoshimi's Reading Room," but I recently re-recorded it. I read it from "The Complete Works of Children's Literature by Tsuboi Sakae" (Kodansha), 1979. According to the "explanation" in the complete works, "Misuzu's Kitten" and "The Elephant That Made a Boat" are relatively new works that were published in magazines and newspapers (roughly after 1955) and had not been included in a book until then. [Tsuboi Sakae] (maiden name: Iwai, female, August 5, 1899 (Meiji 32) - June 23, 1967 (Showa 42)) was a Japanese novelist and poet. She was mainly active in the fields of general novels and children's literature (fairy tales), and is known as the author of "Twenty-Four Eyes," a masterpiece of postwar anti-war literature that was later made into a movie. She was born in Sakate Village, Shozu District, Kagawa Prefecture (now Shodoshima Town). Her husband is the poet Tsuboi Shigeji.
