If this impedance is not compatible with the amplifier's audio output, we may have problems with insufficient power or the amplifier may burn out. Today we'll talk about this using the most classic example of this application: the 2-ohm dual voice coil speaker. First, we need to analyze what impedances are possible to obtain according to the different possible wire connections. If we connect the coil outputs in series, we will double the impedance, resulting in 4 ohms. To make this connection, simply connect the wires coming from the amplifier to a negative input of the speaker and the other wire from the amplifier to the positive input of the speaker. The two remaining connectors should be interconnected. The other possible connection method is the parallel configuration, which will result in a final speaker impedance of 1 ohm. To make this connection, you must join the two positive connections and send them to the amplifier, and then join the two negative connections and send them to the amplifier. Now that we know the possible operating impedances of this speaker, we can choose a compatible amplifier. We know that the series connection will result in 4 ohms, but it is difficult to achieve the desired power operating at 4 ohms. The only way to do this would be by using the breedge format of a 4-channel amplifier with 2 ohms per channel, or by using an amplifier with lower impedance and twice the power of the speaker. The most logical approach in this case would be to connect the speaker in parallel, resulting in 1 ohm, and then use a 1 ohm amplifier to deliver all its power to the speaker, as both will have a perfect impedance match.
