Session 4: The Stuff We're Made Of

In Genesis 4, we encounter another primordial human pair – not man and woman this time but brother and brother – and ponder the default relation between them. Cain, whose name and character is control, instrumentalizes his interactions with God and with his brother, Abel or Hevel. For the one given to control, persons are tools – either useful or useless. Here we consider the primary ethical responsibility of looking at the face of another and the fundamental distortion of asking "what's a brother good for?"
