After the Heisei Great Merger, Tsu became the second most populous city in Mie Prefecture, but its area has also become much larger, with a population density of 380 people/km2, which is only half that of our hometown, Nabari City, a city of 70,000 people. In terms of area, it's the same as Tokyo's 23 wards, but one is a global city with a population of over 10 million, and the other is a regional city dominated by mountains - why is there such a big difference? That being said, Tsu City has merged with many small towns and villages in the surrounding mountainous areas, which is why it has such a high population density.
