English Electric Lightning F.3 XR718, No.11 Squadron, RAF, 1984, Corgi AA36301 1:72 Diecast Model
The English Electric Lightning is a British fighter aircraft that served as an interceptor during the 1960s, the 1970s and into the late 1980s. It was capable of a top speed of above Mach 2. The Lightning was designed, developed, and manufactured by English Electric, which was later merged into the newly-formed British Aircraft Corporation. Later the type was marketed as the BAC Lightning. It was operated by the Royal Air Force (RAF), the Kuwait Air Force (KAF), and the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF). A unique feature of the Lightning's design is the vertical, staggered configuration of its two Rolls-Royce Avon turbojet engines within the fuselage. The Lightning was designed and developed as an interceptor to defend the V bomber airfields from attack by anticipated future nuclear-armed supersonic Soviet bombers such as what emerged as the Tupolev Tu-22, but it was subsequently also required to intercept other bomber aircraft such as the Tupolev Tu-16 and the Tupolev Tu-95. Seen here is the English Electric Lightning F. 3 XR718 from No.11 Squadron from the RAF, in Binbrook 1984 in 1:72nd scale diecast by Corgi. Even though it has XP749 on the box art and collector card, haha It's a well-made diecast model which is in the usual Corgi standard for their modern jet fighter releases. Thank you as usual for checking out our video, we appreciate it immensely. I hope you found it helpful in some way and if so please throw us a like or even subscribe if you wish to be kept up to date with our latest releases @heavymetaldiecast Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.
