Nikon D800 buttons on the back is not working BUT I repaired it

Nikon D800 buttons on the back was not working, because ther was some of the flex cables ther was dirty, but also because the camera has been dropped, and in that case the play button was in way pressed in (not what I could see..). When the camera was turned on it started to show the last picture the camera has taken. It get me to think of that, could it be that button that makes the error, but it also looks like there was dirt on some of the flex cable gold plated ends, because the colors of the ends was not nice and shiny, I use a fibre glass pen to cleaning the dirt away.....
