How to empty negative suction drain / romovac / surgical drain care at home

Breast cancer surgery is a day care surgery. Patients are discharged on the same day or next day. During surgery, negative suction drains are inserted, which are kept for few days. Patients have to take care of these drains at home. Doctors ask to empty the canister once everyday and keep a chart of drain output. I have demonstrated a simple way to do this yourself. If a family member is helping you, please ask them to wear gloves and wash hands before and after.
