Ever wonder what an editor or agent is thinking about as they read through the opening pages of a manuscript? Now you can find out! In this real-time critique of the first page of a Science Fiction (Cyberpunk) manuscript, I'll talk about what the writer does well, what they can work on in their next round of revisions, and explain my logic so (hopefully!) it can be a positive learning experience for all of us. Where do I get these pages? First page critiques are a new segment I'm offering to my patrons. That means this page was written by a living, breathing human. While I'll welcome craft discussion in the comments section, please keep it constructive and kind. Yes, writers need to have a thick skin for critique, but that doesn't mean we get to be careless with our feedback. Is this really how I edit? Yes! The primary difference between this video and my edits is how I'm communicating my thoughts.
