Are used cars better than new? We're about to find out! We have two cars – a brand new, recently facelifted Audi RS3 and an original Mk1 RS3. We'll put them through a series of tests to see if it's better to buy used or new! For starters, the price difference is huge. The new RS3 has recently been facelifted and now costs over £60,000! By comparison, if you want to buy a Mk1 RS3 in 2025, you'll pay around £10,000. So, a used car has a definite advantage here! But if you're looking for a hot hatch like this, the most important factor will obviously be power. The original RS3 was powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged 5-cylinder engine that could produce 340 hp and 400 Nm. This power was sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. What about the new RS3? Under the hood, we once again find a 2.5-liter turbocharged 5-cylinder engine, though this time it produces 400 hp and 500 Nm. As in the original RS3, power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. So, engine output may be relatively similar, but is the old car still as powerful as it once was? And in terms of design, interior quality, and driving characteristics, will the old RS3 be able to keep up with the all-new Mk3? You'll have to stay with Mat and find out for yourself!
