Kalpeshwar Temple Located at an altitude of 2200 meters(7218 fts) above the sea level, Kalpeshwar temple is one of the Panch Kedar temples located in Kedar Khand. Here lord shiva’s matted tress (Jata) is worshipped and lord shiva is known as Jatadhar or Jateshwar as it is believed that when lord Shiva disappeared from Kedar village his five body parts appeared at five different locations. As per holy scriptures it is believed that lord Shiva hair appeared at Kalpeshwar dham. It is considered as the fifth and last temple in Panch Kedar dham circuit. Kalpvriksh tree located in the vicinity of Kalpeshwar temple. The head priest at this temple is Dasnamis or Gossains, disciples of Adi Shankaracharya.
