Go for a spin with The Cat in the Hat as you ride your couch through the pages of Dr. Seuss's, best-loved children's book. This delightful ride takes the story of The Cat in the Hat and re-creates it scene for scene. The attraction opened in 1999 at Islands of Adventure. Although the park is well respected for its modern, state of the art attractions, this ride is not one of them. While we at TheCoasterViews love this attraction because it's faithful to the source material, some people have said that it is pretty outdated. This is because the design isn't anything to write home about and the ride is a little terrifying by now. Theme Park Crazy made a video (using this footage) describing the Thing 1 & Thing 2 introduction scene as a jump scare. We don't think it's that scary so don't worry about the little kids as they might like this ride so much they sometimes ask to get back in line. Hopefully watching this video will make you appreciate the ride more. Because the ride is showing its age, hopefully a major refurbishment will happen soon. Maybe Garner Holt Productions can add some of their magic.
