1. The Rise to Fame Rama Nandana and her husband Madhukar Jagarlamudi became highly popular on YouTube through their channel "Nandu's World." Based in the UK, they gained hundreds of thousands of subscribers by showcasing their luxurious London lifestyle, travel vlogs, and family moments. Over time, Telugu audiences developed a deep emotional bond and trust with the couple, viewing them as successful role models. 2. The Trap and The Allegations Leveraging their massive social media popularity, the couple started an overseas job and visa consultancy named "Destiny Consultancy," with branches in London, Hyderabad, and Guntur. They allegedly promised unemployed youths and students in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Gujarat high-paying jobs in the UK, visa renewals, and crucial COS (Certificate of Sponsorship) documents. Driven by the immense trust they had in the YouTubers, many victims sold their lands, took heavy loans, and paid massive amounts ranging from ₹15 Lakhs to ₹25 Lakhs per head. However, the promised jobs never materialized, and the certificates allegedly turned out to be fake. The scam is now estimated to be worth crores of rupees. 3. The Legal Action The issue exploded into mainstream media when a victim filed an official police complaint at the Ibrahimpatnam Police Station (NTR District), stating he was cheated out of ₹15 Lakhs. Soon after, more victims from Karnataka and other areas came forward. Following this, the police registered cases, and reports emerged regarding the issuance of Lookout Notices and the potential cancellation of their passports to deport them back to India. If convicted, they could face up to 10 years in prison. While Rama Nandana released a statement denying the allegations and claiming a conspiracy against them, the legal investigation is currently underway. 4. The Digital "Gulf Scam" This controversy is highly reminiscent of the classic "Gulf Scam" from back in the day, where local agents cheated innocent villagers by promising fake jobs in Gulf countries. The only difference is the modern upgrade: instead of local agents, today it involves high-profile YouTube influencers using digital trust to execute a global fraud.
