This is Part 3 of Exploring VIS, my deep-dive series focusing on the Tandy/Memorex VIS (Video Information System). In this part, I take a look at Modular Windows and the Modular Windows SDK. Modular Windows is the cut-down version of Windows 3.1 designed for use on TV set-top devices. Specifically, I'll walk through the installation of Modular Windows on a development PC, run Modular Windows and take a closer look at the user interface, and take a look at the sample WinShell application. I also demonstrate WinShell on the VIS itself as well as some sample applications like Reversi, Slidesho(w), and the Save-It management utility MCMAN.EXE. I also discuss some differences between the VIS' DOS and Modular Windows and standard Windows and MS-DOS. Music/SFX (in order): None. Just me jabbering.
