Chibi Maruko Chan is based on the hugely successful autobiographical comic created by Sakura Momoko, and is one of the most highly regarded Japanese animated series. It has aired in over sixty countries since 1990 and has also been adapted into a film. Maruko is nine years old and a bit lazy, but she is a kind girl who is curious about everything that interests her. She is an optimistic little girl who cheers up easily and loves spending time with her grandfather. Her best friend is Tamae, a thoughtful and kind-hearted girl. She always takes Maruko's side, even when Maruko says strange things. Maruko's life is full of happy moments that she shares with her loving family and some of her classmates. This series depicts Maruko's fun, happy, and sometimes touching life from her unique perspective.
