Scott Bonnar 45 Teardown (6 - Reel and Bearing Housing Removal)

Well you can! ►   / lovelarn   Follow us Facebook for all the latest news and content: ►   / lovelarnau   Follow us on Instagram ►   / lovelarn   If you're tearing down your cylinder mower or are just due for a sharpen, you'll need to remove the cutting reel (did you know it's often cheaper to have the reel ground when it's not installed in the mower?). Today we'll remove the double sprocket from the end of the reel shaft using a three-legged gear puller. We then unbolt and remove the top halves of the left and right bearing housings (00:03:10). You may need to remove the adjuster screws first if they're in the way. The reel can then be removed (00:06:56) but don't forget to inspect the shaft, bearings and bearing shields. Since this machine is being fully stripped down, the lower bearing housings also need to come off. The adjuster bolts are loosened off first before unbolting and then removing the left and right lower housings (00:08:31). In subsequent videos we'll be taking this machine back to bare metal before the rebuild.
