Peace be upon you and peace be upon you. Who is Kiai Haji Ma'shum Ahmad Lasem, or more familiarly known as Mbah Ma'shum Lasem? Why is he so revered by scholars, students, and the community, known as one of the great figures of Nahdlatul Ulama and a teacher to many renowned scholars in Indonesia? In this video, we will review the complete life journey of Kiai Haji Ma'shum Ahmad, from his childhood, his travels in seeking knowledge at various Islamic boarding schools across the archipelago, including his trip to the Holy Land of Mecca, his struggles in establishing and developing the Al Hidayah Lasem Islamic Boarding School, his role in preaching and the struggle for the community, and his role as one of the scholars who helped foster the birth of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU). In addition to his biography, this video also highlights various stories of Mbah Ma'shum's charisma that have been passed down through generations among his students and the community.
