Psalm 26 The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defender of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked come up to eat up my flesh, my oppressors and my enemies, they faint and fall. If an army encamps against me, my heart will not fear. If war rises against me, I will trust in him. One thing I ask of the Lord, one thing I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple. For in the day of my trouble he will hide me in a tent; he will hide me in the secret place of his tabernacle; he will set me on a rock. And now he has lifted up my head above my enemies. So I will go around and offer in his tent the sacrifice of thanksgiving. I will sing to the Lord. Hear, O Lord, the voice of my cry, have mercy on me, and answer me. My heart said to You, “I will seek the Lord; my face has sought You. Therefore, O Lord, I will seek Your face!” Do not turn Your face away from me, do not turn Your servant away in anger. Be my help, do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation! For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord has taken me up. Make Your way, O Lord, a law; lead me in a straight path because of my enemies. Do not hand me over to my oppressors, for false witnesses have risen up against me, and injustice has deceived itself. But I have faith to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord! Be strong, let your heart be strong; wait patiently for the Lord! Psalm 50 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your great mercy; according to the multitude of your lovingkindness, cleanse me from my iniquity. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my iniquity, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned, and done evil in your sight; therefore you are righteous in your words, and you will prevail when you judge. For I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother bear me. For you love truth; you have made known to me the hidden and secret things of your wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me hear joy and gladness, that the bones which are bruised may rejoice. Turn away thy face from my sins, and cleanse me from all mine iniquities. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold me with a mighty spirit. I will teach transgressors thy ways, and the wicked shall be converted unto thee. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation; and my tongue shall rejoice in thy righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. For if thou wouldest have sacrifice, I would give it: but burnt offerings thou delightest not. The sacrifice of God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Make Zion happy in thy good pleasure, O Lord, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then you will be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, with burnt offerings and burnt offerings; then they will lay bulls on your altar. No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your tent. For he will give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the serpent; you will trample underfoot the young lion and the crocodile.
